Vaiskahi in the Square

Our volunteers had a great day sharing news of our upcoming exhibition!

The Mayor of London's annual Vaisakhi celebrations were held this year in historic Trafalgar Square. Despite grey skies spirits weren't dampened in the slightest with thousands turning out for a day of cultural activities, performances and of course langar or free food served from the community kitchen.

UKPHA were delighted to be able to participate with a number of our volunteers on hand in the History stall to engage with the public about our work and forthcoming exhibition 'Empire of the Sikhs'.

It was great to meet friends, old and new, Sikhs and people from the wider community, who have or would like to learn more about this amazingly rich culture.

Our volunteers were overwhelmed with the response to our work and the announcement of the exhibition as they handed out the gorgeous flyers featuring Maharaja Sher Singh.

What a fantastic day! Thanks to all the exhibitors, performers and sevadaars (volunteers) and everyone who came to #VaisakhiInTheSquare #VaisakhiLDN #Sikh #London #Vaisakhi.
